Mining operations need arboriculture that runs at the scale, the regulatory standard and the procurement discipline mining operates on

The arboriculture problem on a mining operation isn’t a single tree — it’s hectares. Pre-clearing surveys ahead of disturbance approvals. Hollow-bearing tree identification for BCD / BAM-administered offset triggers. Clearing coordination across haul roads, infrastructure expansions and lease-boundary works. Rehabilitation tree monitoring across decades-long restoration commitments. Operational-footprint risk assessment for trees near compounds, offices, parking, magazines and stockpiles. The deliverables need to satisfy the environmental management plan, the development consent, the BAM / BCD framework, and the mining-tier procurement framework all simultaneously.

The consulting arborists who can deliver into mining at that scale are rare. We’ve structured our delivery around what mining operations need: cm-level GNSS-positioned tree survey data, multi-format spatial deliverables that drop into mine-site GIS, BAM-compliant offset habitat delivery in-house, TWM with fixed-fee compliance-certified clearing coordination, $20M PL / $5M PI cover and procurement-grade engagement structures. Our Hunter Region base puts us within driving distance of the major NSW Upper Hunter, Hunter Valley and Mid North Coast mining operations — regional NSW positioning that Sydney-based consultancies struggle to match on mobilisation timing.

Why mining operations and their EPCMs pick us

A

Regional NSW base — geographic positioning

Maitland-based. Hunter Region, Upper Hunter, Mid North Coast, Central Coast all within mobilisation distance. We get to NSW Upper Hunter coal operations, Hunter Valley operations and Mid North Coast quarries on same-week notice without Sydney-base mobilisation costs. The major NSW coal-region operators are our regional neighbours.

B

GIS-grade data + BAM-compliant habitat in-house

Cm-level Trimble R2 + RTX positioning, QGIS template stack, multi-format spatial deliverables. Habitat offset delivery (carved hollows, salvaged features, nest boxes) under the same AQF5 — not subcontracted to a separate ecologist + contractor split. Whole environmental-arboriculture function under one accountable consultant.

C

Mining-tier procurement and accountability

$20M PL / $5M PI cover, fixed-fee engagement structures, single accountable AQF5, compliance-certified close-out documentation, multi-deliverable bundled engagements. We deliver into Duratec, Downer, Glencore and other ASX-listed / Tier 1 procurement environments routinely — we know what mining-tier procurement teams need to see.

EPCM contractor delivering into a mining client?

Where you’re delivering an environmental compliance / clearing / infrastructure-build package into a mining client, we plug in as the arboricultural function under your prime engagement — with deliverables formatted to your client’s EMP / consent / GIS standard. Send us the brief and the prime contract structure and we’ll structure accordingly.

🌿

Multi-year rehabilitation monitoring programme?

Where the consent / lease conditions require rehabilitation tree monitoring over years or decades, we design rolling cycles with baseline GIS data, annual / biannual monitoring deliverables and consolidated reporting. Same accountable AQF5 across the full programme — continuity of record matters for compliance.

Mining FAQs

Do you have mining-tier insurance and procurement experience?

$20M PL, $5M PI, Certificate of Currency available on request. We deliver routinely into Tier 1 / Tier 2 contractors and ASX-listed entities (Duratec, Downer, Glencore engagements documented). Procurement structures we work with: fixed-fee per deliverable, schedule of rates, period contracts, panel arrangements. Send us your standard procurement framework and we’ll structure accordingly.

Can you mobilise to remote NSW mining sites?

Yes — our Hunter Region base puts the Upper Hunter, Hunter Valley, Central Coast and Mid North Coast mining regions all within day-trip mobilisation. For more remote NSW sites (Mudgee region, Lithgow, NSW Western Division etc.) we mobilise on negotiated terms. Same-week mobilisation is the typical commitment for Hunter Region jobs.

What GIS formats can you deliver into mine-site systems?

GeoPackage, DWG (CAD-ready, layer-structured), Shapefile, KMZ / KML (for site tablets), GeoJSON, CSV / Excel and PDF map outputs. Trimble R2 + RTX positioning gives cm-level accuracy. If your mine GIS team has a specific schema, we’ll match it at scoping rather than asking you to transform our output.

How do you handle BAM-compliant offset delivery?

The Habitat Creation service delivers carved hollows, salvaged habitat features and nest boxes into retention areas / offset zones / adjacent reserve land. The deliverable matches the offset condition (number of hollows by size class, target species, retention horizon). Close-out reporting formatted for the consent authority and the BCD framework. We typically work alongside the project ecologist if one is engaged; where no ecologist is engaged and the consent is direct-compliance, we can specify the intervention from the consent wording.

Can you handle multi-year rehabilitation monitoring?

Yes — rehabilitation monitoring across years or decades is one of the engagement structures we design routinely. Baseline GIS survey at year 0, monitoring revisits at agreed intervals (typically annual or biannual for the first 5 years, less frequent after that), consolidated multi-year reporting for the EMP / consent close-out. Same accountable AQF5 across the programme.

Do you work with EPCM contractors delivering into mining clients?

Yes — this is a major engagement model. EPCM contractors (Duratec, Downer, Daracon etc.) engage us directly to deliver the arboriculture / environmental compliance function under their prime engagement with the mining client. We deliver to their client’s EMP / consent / GIS standard and bill the EPCM, not the end client.

Can the same arborist appear in court for a mining-related matter?

Yes. Aaron Bath is qualified and willing to attend court under cross-examination on any reports we produce. Mining-related civil matters typically go through Land & Environment Court — reports issued as Expert Witness reports under UCPR Schedule 7 / Practice Note SC Gen 11 with the expert duty declaration attached.

What standards do you work to?

AS 4970-2025 (Protection of Trees on Development Sites), ISA TRAQ for risk assessment, Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 / BAM framework for habitat offset work, UCPR Schedule 7 / Practice Note SC Gen 11 for Expert Witness reports, Arboriculture Australia Minimum Industry Standards for work-practice baselines, WHS legislation and mining-specific safety frameworks for on-site work.
